TWR Group

TWR case study Acting as the agents for the Joint Administrative Receivers, we were retained to conduct the orderly disposal of the collection of race cars and related ephemera held by the group. These comprised the collection of the famous Silk Cut Group ‘C’ Jaguar racing cars including the 1990 Le Mans winning car. There was also a ‘museum’ of significant cars, many linked to Tom Walkinshaw’s racing career, together with historic rally cars, trophies, race wear, drawings, etc.

A number of the Group C Jaguars required re-assembly and commissioning, a significant task in itself, as with such historically important cars, provenance and originality are of paramount importance, even down to tracing the original decals and race numbers. This task was managed by Gordon Wyles, the total process taking well over a year to complete. The Jaguars were offered for sale by private treaty and found their way into the hands of collectors and race enthusiasts around the world, in a series of individual transactions totalling several million of pounds.

The balance of the collection of cars and other material were offered for sale by auction at Brands Hatch, where there was standing room only in the auction room, and bidders joining in the webcast sale from all over the globe. With two world record prices including the world’s most expensive Ford Cortina! (Ex. Clarke/Whitmore/Stewart) the sale was hailed as a rousing success.

We are rightly proud of our reputation in the field of high performance, prestige and racing motor cars, and have been involved in many valuable and interesting cases in this field, including:-

MG Rover Sports & Racing Ltd.
Bentley “Old Number One” – Double Le Mans Winner.
Simtek Grand Prix Ltd. – F1 Race Team.
Scharrighuisen Collection of Historic Bentleys.
The Aston Martin V8 Commemorative Collection of nine Cars,
and numerous exotic and sports cars by Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, etc.

The company was primarily engaged in the wholesale telephony and bandwidth marketplace, with high capacity switches in the UK and Sri Lanka and POPS in cities throughout Western Europe.

The company had extensively utilised asset based lenders to fund capital equipment acquisition and upgrades which had led to a complex situation. We assisted in asset identification and ownership tracing prior to a sale of the business taking place.

Technology based businesses, particularly in the communications, broadcast and computer related fields, form a significant part of work undertaken by ourselves and we have assisted clients with numerous cases including:-
