WHAT ARE LIVE WEBCAST AUCTIONS?

Webcasting relay’s live auctions, via the Internet, from the auction site to your personal/office computer screen, wherever you are in the world.

View and take part in the live auction, just as if you were there, without having to attend the auction site.

Two tools are required:

1. Access to the Internet.

2. A touchtone telephone with a separate line from your Internet connection unless you have a Broadband connection in which case you have both internet and telephone access on the same line.

Place your own bids through a dedicated Auction Tele Conference link direct to the auctioneer as if you were present at the auction.

To participate, there is a brief registration exercise followed by a simple download of required computer software.

EASY STEPS TO REGISTER AS A WEBCAST BIDDER

Before proceeding we would ask that you read and familiarise yourself with ALL our general terms & conditions and any schedule and notices applicable to a particular auction. These will be part of your legal obligations as a participant and you will not be able to proceed until you have signified your confirmation of acceptance by clicking the confirmation button.

Please note that you must be registered to take part in any auction, whether Webcast or attending the auction site in person.

Registration is in two parts:

i ) Site User Registration

ii) Registration to bid

Site User Registration is a once only process

Registration to bid MUST be carried out for each auction you wish to attend, or bid at via the Webcast.

First time participants click on Site User Registration.

You will be requested to complete and submit our standard registration document, which includes selection of your preferred user name and password.

Once registration formalities have been completed you are free to register to bid at upcoming auctions as advertised on our Webcast website home page.

Registered Site Users can simply click on the equipment sales page, select the auction sale of interest and proceed to the register to bid section.

Please note that to participate, a separate phone line from your internet connection is required as bidding can only take place via the telephone link established through the log on procedures. Unless you have a Broadband connection, in which case you have both internet and telephone access on the same line.

A touchtone telephone is required.

A download of the Webcast auction software is necessary as this facilitates the interface with the auction lots, currency converter, price display and audio stream.

On auction day it is strongly recommended that the auction software is downloaded approximately 2 hours before the auction is due to begin.

You can download the software at any time after your request to bid has been accepted. This will appear on your desktop screen following successful registration to bid and be confirmed by email.

The software will install the Wyles Hardy & Co. Webcast Icon (a green ‘&’ symbol) on your desktop screen. When you wish to join the auction, double click on the Icon and complete the Dialog prompts. You will need your Paddle Number (bidder number), Auction Show Number and Preferred Identification Name at this point

A further prompt on the Webcast tool bar will ask whether you wish to listen over the internet or by telephone, click telephone (assuming you wish to bid rather than just listen to the sale).

Your computer screen will now display the start screen or, if the auction is already underway, the current lot being sold. The screen will automatically update as the auction progresses.

In order to bid you must be listening on the telephone. You will have been provided with a specific, Auction Tele-Conference telephone number to dial details of which are on your sale registration confirmation.

If you are listening only, (not bidding on the telephone), through your desktop please be advised that there is a small time delay in transmission of around 10/15 seconds. If you wish to bid at anytime please bear in mind that because of the time delay you must bid using your touch-tone telephone.

You will need to ensure that you have your unique “paddle” number provided in the on screen confirmation and email, to hand at all times as the auctioneer will require confirmation of this.

If you are going to bid for the first time we suggest that you dial in 20/30 minutes using the published teleconference number before the lot you are interested in appears or at the very least 25 lots prior to that in which you have a particular interest. (This is particularly important if you are listening only and then wish to place a bid).

When wishing to bid on a particular item simply press “ Star then 1” on your telephone keypad to “raise your paddle”. Do not keep pressing the keys, this will not work, press and hold for a few seconds and release. To “ lower your paddle” press “ Star then 2” or if you wish to resurrect a bid on the lot displayed, having already pressed the “ Star then 2 “keys, press “ Star then 1” again.

You do not have to keep punching in " Star then 1” or “ Star then 2” against a particular item. The phone lines will be opened up to allow competitive bidders to bid “live” in the room. You will then be in direct communication with the auctioneer who will ask you verbally for a “YES” or “NO” on whether you wish to proceed with your bidding.

If you are the successful bidder the phone line will remain open to allow the auctioneer to confirm your paddle number/name and, if applicable, the number of lots purchased.

You will then be invoiced in accordance with our settlement terms.

LISTEN TO THE AUCTION BUT NOT BID

You can follow the auction on your computer, via the audio stream, but the sound will be delayed by 10-15 seconds behind the live sound in the auction room.

Therefore if you wish to bid, the following procedure is not suitable.

Just to listen and view the auction lots, you need to register in the same way as you would to bid, in order to obtain the Webcast auction software as this facilitates the interface with the auction lots, currency converter, price display and most importantly the audio stream.

First time participants click on Site User Registration

You will be requested to complete and submit our standard registration document, which includes selection of your preferred user name and password.

Once registration formalities have been completed you are free to register to bid at upcoming auctions as advertised on our Webcast website home page

Registered Site Users can simply click on the equipment sales, select the auction sale of interest and proceed to the register to bid section.

Download the Webcast auction software.

On auction day it is strongly recommended that the auction software is downloaded approximately 2 hours before the auction is due to begin.

You can download the software at any time after your request to bid has been accepted. This will appear on your desktop screen following successful registration to bid and be confirmed by email.

The software will install the VirtualGavel Webcast Icon on your desktop screen. When you wish to join the auction, double click on the Icon and complete the Dialogue prompts. You will need your Paddle Number (bidder number), Auction Show Number and Preferred Identification Name at this point

A further prompt on the Webcast tool bar will ask whether you wish to listen over the internet or by telephone. Just select the "listen by streaming" button on the Webcast tool bar.

Your computer screen will now display the start screen or, if the auction is already underway, the current lot being sold. The screen will automatically update as the auction progresses

Please note that the audio will only be streamed over the internet when the sale commences.

Do not use this procedure if you want to bid.

You must be listening on the phone in order to bid.

IMPORTATN NOTICE TO APPLE MACINTOSH USERS

Unfortunately this service is not fully compatible with Apple Macintosh. However you can still bid in the Webcast Auction.

Apple Mac users can listen to the auction in real time like all other users, but will have to manually advance the sale catalogue (lots, descriptions and illustrations) by scrolling down the catalogue, lot by lot in time with the auctioneer.

1. Call the Auction Teleconference number provided – you will need your paddle number and possibly your password/preferred identification name, this will enable you to listen to the auction and bid by using the “ Star then 1” and “ Star then 2” keys to raise and lower your paddle.

2. Select the catalogue for the sale you wish to attend from the Auction Calendar Section of our website, and follow the auctioneer on the telephone.

3. Audio Streaming, the currency converter and lot price indicators are not available to Mac users at this time.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO AOL MAIL CLIENT USERS

If you have an AOL email account there may be instances where you fail to receive the registration and confirmation emails that our system sends out.

This can be caused by the AOL email client’s “mail controls” being set incorrectly. Please check with your mail provider to make sure that you do not have any blocks or filters installed that may interfere with the delivery of external mail (mail from non-AOL users).

Please contact AOL technical support for assistance with the AOL email client software.

Alternatively, a Hotmail or Yahoo web email address can be set up quickly, and efficiently received email from our mailservers for registration purposes.
