Purpose

Administration

Sector

Aviation

Task

Valuation, Operational Management & Realisation

Location

United Kingdom, North West

Our team worked diligently to ensure a structured and transparent approach throughout the process. The administration process of Emerald Airways was conducted with a focus on maximizing value for all stakeholders, said Gordon Wyles, Chairman of Wyles Hardy & Co

Overview

Wyles Hardy & Co. was appointed by the Administrators and a leading UK finance house to value, market, and manage the realisation of Emerald Airways’ fleet of thirty regional freighter aircraft, stationed across the UK and Europe. This complex assignment required valuation and strategic planning due to varied aircraft types and locations. The goal was to support asset management and disposal in line with stakeholder requirements.

Method

Working closely with stakeholders, we assessed the varied fleet, which included four aircraft types in different operational conditions, ranging from airworthy to under extensive overhaul.

With four aircraft types on the fleet in various states of airworthiness, undergoing major overhauls, refurbishment and reconfiguration, not to mention being spread across Europe the task was a significant challenge.

The scope of our instruction was carefully agreed to meet the stakeholder’s needs and the practicalities of the immediate scenario, enabling strategic marketing and potential outcome advice to be provided in a timely manner. This enabled a realisation programme to be implemented and executed by the Administrator’s team.

Stakeholder needs guided the preparation of market-focused valuation reports that informed decision-making on asset realisation.

Results

  1. Accurate valuations enabled the Administrator’s team to make informed asset management decisions.
  2. Targeted marketing generated interest from freighter operators and buyers across Europe.

Conclusion

This project illustrates Wyles Hardy’s expertise in valuing and realising complex aviation assets under challenging conditions. The case highlights our capability in managing both operational and valuation needs for distressed aviation assets across various locations. It also reinforces our experience in supporting finance houses and administrators through structured realisation programs, contributing positively to stakeholders’ outcomes.
